Connect Trae to your task board

ByteDance's AI IDE, on your board.

To connect Trae to a task board, add Weft — a task board with an MCP server — to Trae and sign in once. It takes about three minutes and is free for 50 tasks. After that, Trae creates, moves and finishes tasks on your board when you ask.

Weft is the AI task manager for solo founders and small teams.

ByteDance's AI-native IDE. Its Builder writes and runs code across your project; Weft is where the work itself lives, so what Trae finishes is visible to you and to every other assistant you use.

Trae MCP setup

Trae MCP docs ↗

This client has no OAuth of its own, so it signs in with an access token from Settings → Access tokens — see letsweft.com/docs/access-tokens. Trae takes Streamable HTTP with custom headers — add the server by hand rather than from the marketplace, which lists local servers only.

  1. 01

    Create a free Weft account.

    Weft is free for 50 tasks. Pro from $5/seat/month billed yearly.

  2. 02

    Add Weft to your Trae config.

    Trae → Settings → MCP → Add manually

        "weft": {
          "url": "https://letsweft.com/api/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
          }
        }
      }
    }
    MCP endpoint

  3. 03

    Complete the OAuth popup.

    On first use, Trae opens a browser window so you can authorize with your Weft account. Sign in once — the client remembers you after that.

  4. 04

    Verify it works.

    The MCP panel shows weft with its tools listed. Then ask the Builder: "what's on my board?".

Try these prompts

Everything below works once you’re connected — Trae picks the right Weft tool on its own.

  • “What's on my board right now?”
  • “File a task for every TODO you just left in the code.”
  • “Start the top task in Todo and report progress as you go.”
  • “What finished work is waiting for my review?”

Trae and MCP: common questions

Does Trae support MCP?

Yes. Trae connects to remote MCP servers, and Weft is one: a single endpoint, https://letsweft.com/api/mcp. This setup signs in with an access token from Settings → Access tokens instead of a browser window.

Where do I add an MCP server in Trae?

In Trae → Settings → MCP → Add manually. The snippet in step 2 is the whole Weft entry.

Is Weft free to use with Trae?

Yes, for up to 50 tasks, with no credit card. Pro removes the limit.

What can Trae do on my Weft board?

Create, update, move and complete tasks, plan and run sprints, sort work into projects and search across all of it: 32 MCP tools in all.
