Connect opencode to your task board
The open-source terminal agent, on your board.
To connect opencode to a task board, add Weft — a task board with an MCP server — to opencode and sign in once. It takes about three minutes and is free for 50 tasks. After that, opencode creates, moves and finishes tasks on your board when you ask.
Weft is the AI task manager for solo founders and small teams.
SST's open-source coding agent for the terminal — provider-agnostic, so it runs on whatever model you pay for. Weft gives it the shared record a session cannot keep: what is in flight, what is finished, and what is waiting on you.
opencode MCP setup
opencode MCP docs ↗No client ID and no token: opencode discovers the authorization server, registers itself and runs PKCE on its own. The entry lands in ~/.config/opencode/opencode.jsonc; `opencode mcp logout weft` removes the credentials again.
- 01
Create a free Weft account.
Weft is free for 50 tasks. Pro from $5/seat/month billed yearly.
- 02
Add Weft to your opencode config.
bashopencode mcp add weft --url https://letsweft.com/api/mcpMCP endpointhttps://letsweft.com/api/mcp - 03
Complete the OAuth popup.
On first use, opencode opens a browser window so you can authorize with your Weft account. Sign in once — the client remembers you after that.
- 04
Verify it works.
Run `opencode mcp auth weft` and sign in through the browser, then `opencode mcp list` — Weft stops saying "needs authentication". `opencode mcp debug weft` prints the whole handshake if it does not.
Try these prompts
Everything below works once you’re connected — opencode picks the right Weft tool on its own.
- “What's on my board right now?”
- “File a task for every TODO you just left in the code.”
- “Start the top task in Todo and report progress as you go.”
- “What finished work is waiting for my review?”
opencode and MCP: common questions
Does opencode support MCP?
Yes. opencode connects to remote MCP servers, and Weft is one: a single endpoint, https://letsweft.com/api/mcp. You sign in once in the browser; there is no API key to copy.
Where do I add an MCP server in opencode?
You don’t edit a file by hand: the command in step 2 adds the Weft entry to opencode for you.
Is Weft free to use with opencode?
Yes, for up to 50 tasks, with no credit card. Pro removes the limit.
What can opencode do on my Weft board?
Create, update, move and complete tasks, plan and run sprints, sort work into projects and search across all of it: 32 MCP tools in all.
