Migrate from Notion to Weft

Keep the docs in Notion. Move the board to Weft.

A Notion tasks database has as many shapes as teams that built it. The cleanest migration is to treat your database columns as a CSV and map them deliberately. Docs stay where they belong — in Notion.

1. Export from Notion

Open Notion ↗
  1. 1Open your Notion tasks database as a full page.
  2. 2Click the ••• menu in the top right → Export.
  3. 3Choose "CSV (All rows)" as the format.
  4. 4Download the ZIP, unzip it, and open the CSV.
  5. 5If your database also exports a file per row, you can ignore those for now.

2. Map the concepts

Notion and Weft name the same things differently. Here is how they line up.

NotionWeft
Status select: Backlog / Todo / Doing / Done (or similar)
Column: map directly
Priority select
Priority: map to none / low / medium / high / urgent
Due date property
dueAt (ISO-8601)
Sprint / iteration property
Sprint
Create the sprint first, then attach.
Tags / Multi-select
Task description
Surface as "[tag1, tag2]" at the top of the description.
Relation to other databases
Link in description
Keep the Notion page URL in the description.

3. Import using your AI

Weft does not need a separate import script — because the MCP server is the import path. Paste your export into Claude, Cursor, Codex, or ChatGPT (after connecting Weft via one of the setup guides), and ask the AI to create the tasks for you. It uses the real create_task, create_sprint, and move_task tools.

Prompt for your AI

Here is a CSV export from a Notion tasks database. Create each row as a Weft task. Map the Status column to Weft columns (Backlog / Todo / Doing / Done). Map the Priority column to Weft priority. Keep the Notion page URL in the description so we can link back for attachments or context. Create sprints from the Sprint/Iteration column before attaching tasks.

No AI connected yet? Use the built-in CSV importer — upload the export, map the columns, and the whole batch lands in one transaction. (AI clients get the same power via the bulk_create_tasks tool: the entire import in a single call.)

Prefer a hands-on migration? Contact support with your export and we will do it for you while Weft is early. No charge.

What does not transfer

  • Notion docs and page content stay in Notion — Weft is a task manager, not a wiki.
  • Attachments and inline images do not transfer.
  • Relations to other databases become plain URLs in the description.
  • Rollups, formulas, and linked databases do not exist in Weft.
