Weft vs Hypertask
Hypertask is a keyboard-first project board with its own AI, where agents work over CLI, MCP and API.
Hypertask and Weft are both boards where people and AI agents share the work, so the difference is in the details. Hypertask is keyboard-first, has AI of its own (a task writer, smart labels, inbox triage), and gives scripts a CLI and a REST API; its claims and leases live in that REST API. Weft has no AI of its own: the assistant you already use — ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor — runs the board, and claiming a task, asking you a question and finishing with proof are MCP tools it calls directly.

When Hypertask is the right choice
- You live on the keyboard and want the fastest possible board, with AI built into it.
- Your agents run from scripts or CI and you want a CLI and a REST API, or agents as service accounts with their own keys.
- You want a free plan with no cap on tasks, or time tracking on the board.
When Weft is the right choice
- You work in ChatGPT: Weft is a published ChatGPT app on every plan, including Free.
- You want claiming a task, asking you a question and finishing with proof to be tools your assistant calls, with no code of your own.
- You check work on your phone — Weft has iOS and Android apps.
- You would rather sign in once than rotate keys, your team works in another language than English, or $60 a seat a year matters against $96.
How to switch
There is no Hypertask importer. Connect both boards to the same AI client, ask it to read your open Hypertask tasks and check the list, then have it create them in Weft with bulk_create_tasks — one call for the whole list.
