Connect Kiro to your task board

Spec-driven agent, board-tracked.

To connect Kiro to a task board, add Weft — a task board with an MCP server — to Kiro and sign in once. It takes about three minutes and is free for 50 tasks. After that, Kiro creates, moves and finishes tasks on your board when you ask.

Weft is the AI task manager for solo founders and small teams.

Amazon's agentic IDE turns a spec into tasks and works through them. Weft is where those tasks stop being private to one session — your agents in other clients see the same board, and so do you, from a phone.

Kiro MCP setup

Kiro MCP docs ↗

Kiro speaks Streamable HTTP and uses dynamic client registration — no headers, no API key. Workspace-only setup lives in .kiro/settings/mcp.json. Amazon Q Developer CLI takes the same endpoint: add it as an HTTP server, then run /mcp to finish the browser sign-in.

  1. 01

    Create a free Weft account.

    Weft is free for 50 tasks. Pro from $5/seat/month billed yearly.

  2. 02

    Add Weft to your Kiro config.

    ~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "weft": {
          "url": "https://letsweft.com/api/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    MCP endpoint
    https://letsweft.com/api/mcp
  3. 03

    Complete the OAuth popup.

    On first use, Kiro opens a browser window so you can authorize with your Weft account. Sign in once — the client remembers you after that.

  4. 04

    Verify it works.

    Open the Kiro panel → MCP servers. Weft asks to open a web page to sign in; allow it, finish OAuth, then ask: "what's on my board?".

Try these prompts

Everything below works once you’re connected — Kiro picks the right Weft tool on its own.

  • “Turn this spec into tasks in Weft before you build anything.”
  • “Claim the next task and report progress while you work.”
  • “File the follow-ups you skipped as Backlog tasks.”
  • “What's blocked right now?”

Kiro and MCP: common questions

Does Kiro support MCP?

Yes. Kiro connects to remote MCP servers, and Weft is one: a single endpoint, https://letsweft.com/api/mcp. You sign in once in the browser; there is no API key to copy.

Where do I add an MCP server in Kiro?

In ~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json. The snippet in step 2 is the whole Weft entry.

Is Weft free to use with Kiro?

Yes, for up to 50 tasks, with no credit card. Pro removes the limit.

What can Kiro do on my Weft board?

Create, update, move and complete tasks, plan and run sprints, sort work into projects and search across all of it: 32 MCP tools in all.
