Connect DeepSeek Harness to your task board

DeepSeek in the terminal, on your board.

To connect DeepSeek Harness to a task board, add Weft — a task board with an MCP server — to DeepSeek Harness and sign in once. It takes about three minutes and is free for 50 tasks. After that, DeepSeek Harness creates, moves and finishes tasks on your board when you ask.

Weft is the AI task manager for solo founders and small teams.

DeepSeek's own agent harness — everything in it is a plugin, including the MCP client. Point one instance of that plugin at Weft and the model works your board with its own tools.

DeepSeek Harness MCP setup

DeepSeek Harness MCP docs ↗

This client has no OAuth of its own, so it signs in with an access token from Settings → Access tokens — see letsweft.com/docs/access-tokens. Install the bridge into your profile first — `dsh plugin --profile <name> add @deepseek-ai/dsh-mcp-client` — and note the `- insert:` at the top of the patch: a bare entry in cordis.patch.yml is an override of an existing id and fails with "entry not found". dsh also refuses to boot without DEEPSEEK_API_KEY, before any plugin runs.

  1. 01

    Create a free Weft account.

Weft is free for 50 tasks. Pro from $5/seat/month billed yearly.

  2. 02

Add Weft to your DeepSeek Harness config.

    $DSH_HOME/profiles/<name>/cordis.patch.yml
    - insert:
        - id: weft-mcp
          name: '@deepseek-ai/dsh-mcp-client'
          config:
            serverName: weft
            transport: streamable-http
            url: https://letsweft.com/api/mcp
            headers:
              Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN
    MCP endpoint
    https://letsweft.com/api/mcp
  3. 03

    Complete the OAuth popup.

On first use, DeepSeek Harness opens a browser window so you can authorize with your Weft account. Sign in once — the client remembers you after that.

  4. 04

    Verify it works.

Run `dsh --profile <name> --dump-config` and find the weft-mcp entry, then start the profile and ask: "what's on my board?". Weft's tools appear as `mcp__weft__*`.

Try these prompts

Everything below works once you’re connected — DeepSeek Harness picks the right Weft tool on its own.

  • “What's on my board right now?”
  • “File a task for every TODO you just left in the code.”
  • “Start the top task in Todo and report progress as you go.”
  • “What finished work is waiting for my review?”

DeepSeek Harness and MCP: common questions

Does DeepSeek Harness support MCP?

Yes. DeepSeek Harness connects to remote MCP servers, and Weft is one: a single endpoint, https://letsweft.com/api/mcp. This setup signs in with an access token from Settings → Access tokens instead of a browser window.

Where do I add an MCP server in DeepSeek Harness?

In $DSH_HOME/profiles/<name>/cordis.patch.yml. The snippet in step 2 is the whole Weft entry.

Is Weft free to use with DeepSeek Harness?

Yes, for up to 50 tasks, with no credit card. Pro removes the limit.

What can DeepSeek Harness do on my Weft board?

Create, update, move and complete tasks, plan and run sprints, sort work into projects and search across all of it: 32 MCP tools in all.
